The idea of a mother pre-chewing food (also known as premastication) for her baby might sound odd, but it’s actually a traditional practice found in many parts of the world and was once very common. many anthropologists view premastication as an adaptive, biologically rooted behavior in human caregiving.

Not only is it easier and safer for babies to swallow before they can chew thoroughly, it has a few health benefits! ;

Digestive Enzymes: A mother’s saliva contains enzymes (like amylase) that help start the digestive process, making it easier for babies, whose digestive systems are still developing, to handle new foods—especially tougher things like meat.
Immune Benefits: Sharing oral microbes may help build the baby’s immune system, similar to the way breastfeeding helps transfer antibodies.

This method felt so easy and natural to me and made baby weaning easy and relaxed.

(Just to note that hygiene is very important with all areas of baby weaning and appropriate steps should be taken, this information is not intended as advice, simply inspiration to further your own research.)

Recipe - 1cup nuts of choice crushed 1cup dates

Recipe -

1cup nuts of choice crushed
1cup dates chopped
1cup homemade marshmallows
3table spoons honey
50g butter
100g 70% chocolate
100g 85% chocolate

Gently melt butter, chocolate & honey in pan, when cooled add all other ingredients (make sure cool enough not to melt marshmallows)
Pour into tray & set in fridge
