Seeking out good provisions for our households, being thoughtful about what we bring home, and nourishing the people we love is something women have done for generations.

In the UK we don’t have an official “dirty dozen” list quite like the US, but residue testing from the Pesticide Action Network and other UK data generally shows lower levels on things like:

avocados
bananas
mango

cabbage

Soup 6 sweet potatoes, peeled 4 Carrots, peeled 1/

1/2 white onion
3 garlic cloves
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp curry powder
2 tbsp butter
3 cups bone broth
Sprinkle of salt & pepper
Drizzle of cream to serve

Bread
1/2 cup sourdough starter
500g wholewheat flour
1 tbsp honey
400g water
1 tsp salt

(I add everything to the bread machine to make the dough, then leave it to rise for around 8 hours. Then a quick reshape and leave on the side for a further 2 hours to rise again. Bake in the oven in a heavy pot for 20 minutes, then remove the lid for the final 20 minutes for that lovely crust.)
